PARTIAL AND FULL ROAD CLOSURES AT THE VRŠIČ PASS

15. 9. 2025

Reconstruction of the regional road, drainage system, and parking areas at the summit of the Vršič Pass will resume.

The Municipality of Bovec has been informed that the company Gorenjska gradbena družba d.d., on behalf of the investor, the Slovenian Infrastructure Agency, will resume reconstruction of the regional road, drainage system, and parking areas at the summit of the Vršič Pass. Additionally, this year the road structure from the Vršič Pass to Koča na Gozdu will also be repaired.

To manage traffic during construction, partial and full closures will be implemented on sections of the state roads R1-206/1043 Ruska cesta (Erika – Vršič), from km 5.020 (8.575) to km 8.948, and R1-206/1028 Vršič – Trenta, from km 0.000 to km 0.330.

Access from Kranjska Gora to Koča na Gozdu will be possible throughout the construction period. From Trenta, access to Tičarjev dom will be allowed if construction site conditions permit.

Since large areas currently used for unregulated parking are located within the construction zone, these areas will be partially or fully closed during construction to prevent parking. This will limit parking in the area and reduce the number of unauthorized persons near the construction site. Parking will be available on areas lower along the road on both sides of the pass.

Partial closures at the summit of the Vršič Pass are planned between 15 September 2025 and 28 November 2025, depending on weather conditions.

Full closures will be in effect Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 17:00, between 15 September 2025 and 12 October 2025. No full closures are planned for weekends. The exact daily schedule may change due to winter conditions at the pass.
