Traffic from the rockfall area to the top is prohibited for all vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians, and the road is physically closed with a barrier. In emergencies, it is used as an intervention route.

Due to traffic safety, limited parking spaces and traffic calming in the Mangart Saddle area, the number of vehicles is limited to 90 at a time.

An automatic barrier with a traffic counter has been installed at the collection point, and a digital display showing parking occupancy is located at the road turn-off by the Mlinč viaduct.

The environmental fee, collected by MANGRT Razvojna zadruga z.o.o., is:

Traffic is permitted for passenger vehicles and smaller buses with up to 35 seats.

Driving is prohibited for vehicles higher than 2.2 m (motorhomes and passing in tunnels; traffic sign already at Mlinč), except for organised public transport.

The barriers at the collection point open automatically 24/7 until the parking spaces are full. In the event of a power outage, they automatically lift regardless of the number of vehicles.

Although driving is possible both during the day and at night, please note that camping or overnight stays in vehicles at Mangart Saddle are not allowed. The same applies to the branch of the old road at Mlinč.

Mangart Road is narrow and in places exposed, so we recommend patient and careful driving.

We kindly ask all road users to observe traffic signs and follow the instructions of traffic wardens during peak times.

Lights are mandatory for everyone in the tunnels.

Important:

Winter conditions may still occasionally occur on the ascent to the summit of Mangart, so appropriate equipment and extra caution are recommended.

The mountain hut at Mangart Saddle will also remain closed this season, so visitors should bring enough food and drinks.

Mangart Alpine Pasture is already open to visitors.
